Description
Ohira lost a confidence vote on 16 May 1980 (yes: 187, no: 243) after some MPs from the Liberal Democrats abstained from the vote and parliament was dissolved. Ohira died on 12 June and Masayoshi Ito became acting prime minster until the elections in July.
