- Parties signed a coalition agreement on 6 December 1996. Cabinet won an investiture vote (yes: 316, no: 152) on 11 December in a joint sitting of parliament and was appointed the day after. Cabinet ended on 29 January 1998 when Democrats (PD) withdrew. PM Ciorbea resigned on 30 March 1998 and interim PM Dejeu was appointed the same day.
