- A technocratic cabinet under PM Dine was appointed on 17 January 1995 and won a confidence vote in parliament (yes: 302, no: 39, abstain: 270 [lower house]) on 25 January and in the Senate (yes: 191, no: 17, abstain: 2 [upper house]) on 1 February. Cabinet had no stable majority support. In October 1995 (facing a confidence motion) Dini promised to resign by the end of the year after passing the 1996 budget. Dini offered his resignation on 30 December 1995 (rejected by President Scalfaro) and resigned on 11 January 1996.
