- PM Klaus was appointed on 2 July 1996 and the cabinet a day after. The cabinet won an investiture vote on 25 July (yes: 98, no: 40) through absent votes by the Social Democrats (CSSD). Two smaller coalition parties (KDU/CSL and ODA) withdrew from cabinet on 28/29 November 1997 and cabinet resigned on 30 November.
